# Assign Location to Client

**Audience:** Super Admin, Admin\
**Page type:** Task guide\
**Status:** Draft\
**Owner:** Compassly Documentation Team\
**Last verified:** 2026-04-03

## Purpose

Use this guide to assign location.

## Before you start

* You must be signed in to Compassly.
* You must already be in the correct connection view.
* You must select the main record first so the table shows available results.

## Steps

1. Open the correct connection view.
2. Select the main record in the page filter.
3. Change **Assign status** to the correct view if needed.
4. Find the location you want to work with.
5. Open the row action menu.
6. Select **Assign location**.
7. Confirm the action if a confirmation step appears.
8. Wait for the page to refresh.

## What happens after success

After the action succeeds, Compassly updates the table immediately and shows a success message similar to:

> Location was successfully assigned

## Role differences

* **Super Admin / Admin:** Can perform this action.
* **Supervisor:** Can view connection lists but cannot perform assign or unassign actions based on the current permissions matrix.
* **Clinician / Basic:** Do not have access to this section.

## What happens next

After the update, review the refreshed table or continue with another connection change.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://compassly.gitbook.io/compassly-docs/administration/system-settings/connections/locations-to-users/assign-location-to-client.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
