# Delete Custom Role

## Purpose

Use this guide to permanently remove a custom role that is no longer needed.

## Before you start

* You must have the **Super Admin** role.
* You must already be on the **Roles** list.
* Only **Custom** roles can be deleted.
* Reassign any users who still depend on the role before you delete it.

## How to get there

1. Log in to Compassly.
2. Select **System settings**.
3. Select **Roles**.

## Steps

1. On the **Roles** list, find the custom role you want to remove.
2. Open the row action menu and select **Delete** or **Delete role**.
3. Review the warning or confirmation message.
4. Enter your password if the system requires password confirmation.
5. Confirm the deletion.
6. Verify the deleted role no longer appears in the Roles list.

## Role differences

* Only **Super Admin** can delete roles.
* Built-in **System** roles cannot be deleted.

## What happens next

After the role is deleted, it is removed from the available custom roles list. Make sure any affected users have already been reassigned to another role.
