# Import Services

**Audience:** Super Admin, Admin\
**Page type:** Task guide\
**Status:** Draft\
**Owner:** Compassly Documentation Team\
**Last verified:** 2026-04-07

## Purpose

Use this workflow to add services in bulk from an Excel import file.

## Before you start

* You must be on **System settings** > **Services**.
* You should download the current import template before preparing your file.
* The import file must be in the expected Excel format.

## Steps

1. Open **System settings** > **Services**.
2. Click **Import services**.
3. Drag and drop a file into the upload area, or click the upload area to choose a file.
4. Review the selected file name in the import modal.
5. Click **Upload**.
6. Review the validation result.
7. Confirm the import if validation passes.

## Important

* Compassly validates the file before import.
* If the file format is not accepted, the upload fails and the import does not continue.
* The specification says only Excel files are accepted for import.
* Imported services are created in bulk if the file passes validation.

## Role differences

* **Super Admin / Admin:** Can use the verified import workflow.
* **Other roles:** \[VERIFY: confirm whether any additional roles can import services.]

## What happens next

Imported services appear on the **Services** list after a successful import.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://compassly.gitbook.io/compassly-docs/administration/system-settings/services/import-services.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
