**Last verified:** 2026-04-06

Use the **Download** menu on **History logs** to export the current audit log report.

## Before you start

* You must be on the **History logs** page.
* A report must already be generated.

## Role differences

* **Super Admin / Admin:** Can download the report in the verified UI.
* **Other roles:** \[VERIFY: confirm whether any non-admin roles can download audit log reports.]

## Steps

1. Open **History logs**.
2. Click the **Download** button in the upper-right corner.
3. Select **Download report in XLSX** or **Download report in CSV**.
4. Wait for Compassly to start the download.
5. Confirm the system message that the report is being downloaded.

## Important

* Downloads use the current report criteria.
* Table search and column filters affect the downloaded data.
* Hidden columns on the page do not remove columns from the downloaded file.
* Downloads include all matching records across all pages, not only the current page.
* The downloaded file name includes the report folder name, the selected start date and end date, and a generated file ID.

## What happens next

* Open the downloaded file on your device.
* Regenerate the report if you need a different date range or filter set.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://compassly.gitbook.io/compassly-docs/core-modules/audit-logs/download-audit-log-report.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
