# Generate Audit Log Report

**Audience:** Super Admin, Admin\
**Page type:** Task guide\
**Status:** Draft\
**Owner:** Compassly Documentation Team\
**Last verified:** 2026-04-06

## Purpose

Use the **Audit logs** page to generate a history report for selected activity areas, actions, team members, clients, and dates.

## Before you start

* You must be signed in to Compassly.
* You must be on the **Audit logs** page.
* You must select at least one **Activity areas** value.
* You must select a **Period**.
* The **Actions**, **Team members**, and **Clients** fields depend on the selected **Activity areas** values.

## Role differences

* **Super Admin / Admin:** Can generate an audit log report in the verified UI.
* **Other roles:** \[VERIFY: confirm whether any non-admin roles can generate audit log reports.]

## How to get there

1. Sign in to Compassly.
2. Select **Audit logs** from the left navigation.

## Steps

1. Open **Activity areas** and select one or more areas.
2. Select **All** if you want to include every available activity area.
3. Open **Period** and choose a shortcut such as **Today**, **Yesterday**, **Last 7 Days**, **Last 30 Days**, **This Month**, **Last Month**, or **Custom Range**.
4. Adjust the start date and end date if you need a custom period.
5. Click **Apply** in the date picker to keep the selected period.
6. Open **Actions** if you want to limit the report to specific actions.
7. Open **Team members** if you want to limit the report to specific team members.
8. Open **Clients** if you want to limit the report to specific clients.
9. Use **See all** next to any field when you need to review the full selected list in a side panel.
10. Click the page-level **Apply** button to generate the report.

## Important

* **Activity areas** and **Period** are required.
* **Actions**, **Team members**, and **Clients** are optional.
* If you do not select any **Actions**, Compassly generates the report for all available actions in the selected activity areas.
* If you do not select any **Team members**, Compassly generates the report for all available team members when that field is enabled.
* If you do not select any **Clients**, Compassly generates the report for all available clients when that field is enabled.
* Clicking **Cancel** clears the current setup instead of generating the report.

## What happens next

After you click **Apply**, Compassly opens the **History logs** page for the selected date range and filters.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://compassly.gitbook.io/compassly-docs/core-modules/audit-logs/generate-audit-log-report.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
