## Purpose

Use **Medication library** to manage the master medication list and the supporting catalogs used during medication assignment.

## Before you start

Before working in the Medication library, confirm the following:

* You can open **Medications → Medication library**.
* Your role includes access to the action you want to perform.
* The dataset dropdown in the upper-right corner controls which library dataset is currently displayed.

## How to get there

1. Sign in to Compassly.
2. In the left navigation, select **Medications**.
3. Select **Medication library**.

## What you can do here

From this workspace, you can:

* review the main medication list
* add, edit, import, or delete medication records based on your role
* switch the dataset dropdown to manage:
  * **Medications**
  * **Dosage forms**
  * **Usage methods**
  * **Units of measurement**
* download templates or reports from the current dataset, when available

## Role differences

* **Super Admin / Admin / Supervisor / Clinician:** Can view the medication list.
* **Super Admin / Admin / Supervisor / Clinician:** Can add, import, view details, assign, and edit medication records.
* **Super Admin:** Can delete medication records.
* **Basic:** Cannot access Medication library actions listed above.

## Notes about library changes

Library records act as snapshots when they are used in client medication workflows.

* Updating a medication, dosage form, usage method, or unit of measurement changes that library value for future use.
* Existing client medication records keep the information that was captured at the time of assignment.

## What happens next

Choose the dataset you need, then open the matching task guide for viewing, adding, editing, importing, or deleting records.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://compassly.gitbook.io/compassly-docs/core-modules/medications/medication-library.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
