# Dosage Forms

**Audience:** Super Admin, Admin, Supervisor, Clinician\
**Page type:** Overview\
**Status:** Draft\
**Owner:** Compassly Documentation Team\
**Last verified:** 2026-04-03

## Purpose

Use the **Dosage forms** catalog to manage the standardized dosage-form values available in the Medication Library. Keeping this catalog current helps teams assign medications consistently across the workspace.

## Before you start

Before working in **Dosage forms**, confirm the following:

* You are signed in to Compassly.
* You can open **Medications** from the left navigation.
* You can access **Medication library**.
* Your role includes the action you want to complete.

## How to get there

1. Sign in to Compassly.
2. In the left navigation, select **Medications**.
3. Select **Medication library**.
4. In the upper-right dataset dropdown, choose **Dosage forms**.

## What you can do here

Depending on your role, you may be able to:

* view the list of dosage forms
* search the list
* add a new dosage form
* edit an existing dosage form
* delete a dosage form

## Role differences

* **Super Admin / Admin / Supervisor / Clinician:** Can view the dosage-form list.
* **Super Admin / Admin / Supervisor:** Can add and edit dosage forms.
* **Super Admin / Admin:** Can delete dosage forms.
* **Basic:** Does not have access to this catalog.

## Important behavior

Dosage-form values act like snapshots when used in client medication workflows. Updating or deleting a dosage form in the library does not retroactively change existing client medication records; it affects future use in the library workflow.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://compassly.gitbook.io/compassly-docs/core-modules/medications/medication-library/dosage-forms.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
