# Edit Dosage Form

**Audience:** Super Admin, Admin, Supervisor\
**Page type:** Task guide\
**Status:** Draft\
**Owner:** Compassly Documentation Team\
**Last verified:** 2026-04-03

## Purpose

Use this guide to update an existing dosage form in the Medication Library.

## Before you start

Before you begin, confirm the following:

* You are signed in to Compassly.
* You can access **Medications → Medication library**.
* Your role allows you to edit dosage forms.

## How to get there

1. Sign in to Compassly.
2. In the left navigation, select **Medications**.
3. Select **Medication library**.
4. In the upper-right dataset dropdown, choose **Dosage forms**.

## Steps

1. Open **Medications → Medication library**.
2. In the upper-right dataset dropdown, select **Dosage forms**.
3. Find the dosage form you want to update.
4. Open the row action menu and select **Edit**.
5. Update the dosage-form title.
6. Select **Apply** or **Save** to keep your changes.

## Important behavior

Dosage-form values are used as snapshots in downstream client medication workflows. Editing a dosage form in the library updates the library value for future use, but it does not retroactively change existing client medication records.

## Role differences

* **Super Admin / Admin / Supervisor:** Can edit dosage forms.
* **Clinician / Basic:** Cannot edit dosage forms.

## What happens next

After you save your changes, the updated dosage-form title appears in the library list and is available for future selections.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://compassly.gitbook.io/compassly-docs/core-modules/medications/medication-library/dosage-forms/edit-dosage-form.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
