## What This Section Covers

This material covers how to permanently remove a Subdomain from the Program Library.

## Before You Start

* You must have permission "View subdomain list".
* You must have permission "Delete subdomain".
* Confirm that the item should be removed permanently before you continue.
* Some Subdomains may not be removable if related records still depend on them.

> **Warning:** Deleting a Subdomain is permanent and may affect related records. Review the record carefully before continuing.

## Where To Start

1. Sign in to Compassly.
2. In the left navigation menu, select ***Program Library***.
3. In the left navigation menu, select ***Subdomains*** from the dropdown menu under ***Program Library***.

## Available Actions

1. **Delete a subdomain from the Program Library permenantly.**
   * It is recommended that you filter down the Domain List using the filters covered under the "View Subdomain List" guide page to avoid accidentially deleting the wrong Subdomain.
   * Under the Action column of the Subdomain List, open the action menu dropdown for the Subdomain you wish to delete by clicking on the ellipsis (The three dots) in the corresponding row.
   * In the action menu dropdown, click on the option "Delete subdomain".

## Notes

* Delete dialogs should always be reviewed carefully before confirmation.
* If your environment shows the item name in the confirmation dialog, verify it matches the item you intended to remove.
* If you do not see the delete option, confirm that you are signed in with the correct role.
* Compassly may block deletion when the Subdomain is still linked to other records, such as Domains or related Program Library items. If that happens:
  1. Review the warning message.
  2. Identify the related records that still depend on the Subdomain.
  3. Reassign, update, or remove those related records first.
  4. Return to the Subdomains list and try the deletion again.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://compassly.gitbook.io/compassly-docs/core-modules/program-library/subdomains/delete-subdomain.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
