## What This Section Covers

This material covers how to open Shift Management and find the shifts assigned to you, including how to change the calendar view, move between dates, and filter what you see.

## Before You Start

* You must have permission "Manage shifts and notes".
* If your role does not include "Access shifts and notes of all team members", the shifts you see are automatically limited to shifts assigned to you. This is not just a filter you can change — the underlying list only ever includes your own shifts.

## Where To Start

1. Sign in to Compassly.
2. In the left navigation menu, select ***Shifts***.
3. In the left navigation menu, select ***Shift Management*** from the dropdown menu under ***Shifts***.

## Available Actions

1. **Review your default view.**
   * Shift Management opens to the ***Week*** view for the current calendar week, with the Shift status, Team member, and Clients filters all set to "All." If your role only has access to your own shifts, the Team member filter shows only you, and the Clients filter shows only clients assigned to you.
2. **Switch between Day, Week, Month, and Table view.**
   * Use the view mode selector to change how shifts are displayed. ***Day*** shows a single day across all hours, ***Week*** shows Monday through Sunday, ***Month*** shows the full calendar month, and ***Table*** lists shifts across every location you have access to instead of a calendar grid. Only one view can be active at a time.
3. **Move between dates.**
   * Use the time span selector at the top of the calendar to open a date picker and jump to a different day, week, or month, or use the previous/next controls to step forward and backward one period at a time.
4. **Select a Location.**
   * In Day, Week, and Month view, use the Location selector to choose which location's schedule you're viewing. Only locations you're assigned to appear in this list. If your device's time zone differs from the location's time zone, the location's time zone abbreviation is shown next to its name.
5. **Filter the shifts you see.**
   * Use the Shift status, Team member, Clients, and Service filters to narrow the calendar. Selecting values within one filter is an "or" — for example, selecting two team members shows shifts for either one. Selecting values across different filters is an "and" — for example, selecting a team member and a client shows only shifts that match both. Use ***Clear all*** to reset a filter back to "All."
   * If a staff member you expect to see isn't in the Team member filter at all, that's a connections problem, not a Shifts problem — check that they're on a Team you're connected to and assigned to the Location you're currently viewing. See [Connections](/compassly-docs/administration/system-settings/connections.md).
6. **Read a shift on the calendar.**
   * Each shift shows its start and end time, the total hours, the assigned team member (or "Not assigned"), and any assigned client(s). The shift's color and appearance indicate its status — hover over the calendar legend to see what each status looks like.
7. **Open a shift.**
   * Click a shift on the calendar to open its details. See [View a Shift's Details](/compassly-docs/core-modules/shifts/shift-management/view-shift-details.md) for what you'll find there.

## Role Differences

* ***Super Admin / Admin / Supervisor:*** Can view shifts for team members and clients they're connected to, across every location they're assigned to. Being connected to a team member on a shared Team makes that person visible; sharing a Location with them is what makes a specific location's schedule and clients visible. Missing either connection means that team member won't show up. See [Connections](/compassly-docs/administration/system-settings/connections.md).
* ***Clinician / Basic:*** Only has access to: viewing shifts assigned to themselves, for clients assigned to themselves. The Team member filter cannot be changed to another team member.

## Summary Of Section

**Upon reviewing this material, you should be able to:**

* Open Shift Management and understand what you're looking at by default
* Switch between Day, Week, Month, and Table view
* Move between dates and locations
* Filter the calendar down to what you need to see

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://compassly.gitbook.io/compassly-docs/core-modules/shifts/shift-management/view-my-shifts.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
