# Delete a Shift Template

## What This Section Covers

This material covers how to permanently delete a Shift Template.

## Before You Start

* You must have permission "View and manage shift templates".
* You'll need your account password to confirm the deletion.
* Deleting a template does not affect any shifts that were already created from it — only the template itself is removed.

## Where To Start

1. Sign in to Compassly.
2. In the left navigation menu, select ***Shifts*** > ***Shift Template Library***.
3. Open the action menu on the template you want to delete and select ***Delete shift template***.

## Available Actions

1. **Confirm the deletion.**
   * Enter your account password in the confirmation window and click ***Delete***. If the password doesn't match, you'll see an error and can try again.
2. **Check the result.**
   * Once deleted, the template no longer appears in the Shift Template Library list.

## Role Differences

* ***Super Admin / Admin / Supervisor:*** Can delete any template for locations they're assigned to.
* ***Clinician / Basic:*** Does not have access to this screen.
